American Woman Reveals Things That Confuse Her About Living In The UK

An American woman has taken to TikTok to share the things that most confuse her about living in the UK.

An American woman has taken to TikTok to share the things that most confuse her about living in the UK.

TikToker Miriam Giraffe moved to London from Washington State in 2021.

While she had previously studied abroad in the UK, she became a permanent resident after getting a job in London.

In a series of videos she shared what 'threw' her when she first moved to the UK.

First on Giraffe's list, 'you alright?'

While this feels like a pretty self-explanatory greeting for anyone in the UK, it caused Giraffe a fair bit of confusion.

The content creator took the phrase to mean that she looked unwell, which depending on the tone of the person saying 'you alright?' it can mean, but we'll leave that for now.

Next up, having to hail a bus.

To be fair, we didn't realise this was weird.

But, according to Giraffe it seemed odd that you had to put your hand out to get the bus to stop, instead of it just stopping at its designated stops.

Another one on Giraffe's list – free museum entry.

Okay, this one the UK definitely has right. While our greetings and bus system might seem a little confusing, at least we don't have to pay for museum entry.

However, in another video Giraffe was still taken aback by the fact that she had to pay for theatre programmes.

But that this was somewhat made up for by 'being able to bank transfer money through an app', which while convenient is actually the source of a fair few money issues, so we're not sure if this is a positive.
