An artist who was famed for turning rockstars’ privates into plaster casts has died at the age of 74.

Cynthia Albritton cast the erect penises of some serious Hall of Famers, including Jimi Hendrix, Beach Boys and Buzzcocks’ Pete Shelley.

Albritton died in Chicago on Thursday following a long illness.

Albritton – whose representative confirmed the news of the artist’s death to Variety this week – started her plaster cast career in the 60s.

At the time, Albritton, who was then an art student, was given an assignment to create a plaster cast of ‘something solid that could retain its shape’.

The rest is phallic-shaped history, and come 1968 Albritton was casting Jimi Hendrix’s dick when his band played in the Windy City that year.

Speaking about her experience with Hendrix during an interview with Salon magazine in 2000, Albritton called the experience ‘unreal’.

She said: “He was a casting dream. When his pubes got stuck in the mould because I didn't lube them enough, he didn't freak out at all. Just very patiently f****d the mould while he waited for me to pull out one pube at a time.”

As for who she regrets not casting, Albritton revealed: “Too many dicks that got away to mention! Sure, the Beatles, Stones, Iggy and Ray Davies. Especially Brian Jones. And Serge Gainsbourg.”

Albritton also told the outlet she ‘never’ gets tired of looking at dicks, likening them to her own pets.

“Never. Never. They're like my pets. I have them in this room on pedestals, and there's a warm yellowish tint in the room, it's like sitting in your living room with your pet kitties,” she shared.

Albritton also cast the breasts of legendary female musicians, including Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Peaches.

Speaking about her work in a trailer for 2001’s Plaster Caster – a documentary about Albritton’s world-renowned catalogue – she said: “I was trying to figure out a way to mould a penis, so I thought, ‘Well, let’s get together a kit because that will make it even more absurd and ridiculous – and professional look, and create more laughs.”

Albritton became such an icon in the rock 'n roll world that KISS’s Gene Simmons even wrote a song about her, aptly named Plaster Caster.

The lyrics read: “The plaster's gettin' harder, and my love is perfection, a token of my love, for her collection.”
