Bam Margera has been arrested for driving under the influence, (DUI), after he reportedly approached the police while intoxicated.
The former Jackass star drove past CHP officers who were in the middle of stopping someone else and when they spoke with him, they noticed the strong smell of alcohol on his breath.
Police officers then asked the pro-skateboarder to pull over before booking him with DUI. His bail was set at $15k and he was later released after he paid it himself.
It’s a shame to hear this news after Bam was apparently getting his life on track.
As reported by TMZ, it’s surprising to see Bam drink-driving considering his best friend Ryan Dunn was killed while doing so in 2011.
This is Bam’s first DUI but he’s battled alcohol abuse for many years – he and his wife had a son in December and he spoke out about embracing sobriety.
Recently the 38-year-old skateboarder spoke out about the disturbing story of when he was raped.
Talking on a podcast, the pro-skateboarder recalled the alleged encounter which took place in Arizona while he was drunk on whiskey partying with Jackass co-star Brandon Novak.
Bam said while he was asleep, Novak told the woman where Bam was and told her to ‘have at it’.
Watch the clip of Bam talking on the Nine Club With Chris Roberts here:
Bam allegedly woke up to the woman having sex with him and telling him she loved him.
I’m like: ‘Who are you? Get the f*ck out, like get away, what just happened?’
Roberts is heard interrupting and says ‘you got raped’.
When anybody says a guy can’t get raped by a girl, that’s false, because it happened to me.
Prior to the incident, he’d been away from the limelight for some time and admitted to battling alcoholism and drug abuse following the untimely death of his best friend Ryan Dunn in 2011.
While already supposedly a big drinker and drug-taker, Bam fell into a downward spiral behind closed doors.
For five years he remained focused on getting back to health, however, since getting clean, the pro-skater was back doing what he loves the most – besides performing ridiculous stunts – skateboarding.
Recently, he was back on the scene with prominent skateboard brand Element, launching his own brand of personalised decks, something he’d done years before.
Element announced his return with a heartfelt press statement:
Bam’s natural talent on a skateboard and hilarious on-screen antics thrust him into the spotlight at a young age, making him one of the most popular and fun-to-watch skateboarders in the world.
As his media career took off, millions of people around the world were exposed to skateboarding for the first time – with his larger-than-life personality inspiring an entire generation of kids to go skate.
There are rumours circulating of a potential Jackass comeback after Johnny Knoxville posted a photo of himself with Bam and co-star Wee Man, who hadn’t been together in almost seven years.
We hope Bam gets the help he needs.
