I’m sure like most people, you’re good and ready to get stuck into DICE’s World War I shooter, Battlefield 1. Fortunately, we don’t have much longer to wait.
DICE has announced that the open beta will kick off on August 31 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, meaning we now have a reason to look forward to the end of Summer.
As previously announced, Battlefield Insiders get the chance to play early and practice their skills. It’s not clear yet just how much earlier these insiders get to play, but three days is the general assumption.
You have until August 21 to sign up here, if you fancy it. Any insiders who haven’t already given DICE their platform preference for the beta need to do so soon, or they won’t be able to give you a code.
The Battlefield 1 beta will include one map. It’s called Inai Desert, which is located in a place called El-Jifar.
This map will show off the variety of Battlefield 1, taking in everything from ground combat and dogfights up in the sky. The map also has a ‘behemoth’ vehicle in the form of an armoured train (awesome).
The beta will focus on two modes: Conquest (64 players) and Rush (24 players). No word on when the beta will end, so just make the most of it for as long as you can.
Finally, DICE released a new trailer which shows off what seems to be the Inai Desert map that we’ll be playing in the beta.
We get a good look at horse based combat, see what the train can really do, and even get a glimpse of what seems to be the Battlefield 1 campaign mode at the very end – check it out.
Battlefield 1 officially launches on October 21 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
