The ongoing debate over who should be the next actor to play James Bond shows no signs of ending anytime soon.
James Norton has emerged as the shock new favourite to become 007, with The Happy Valley star now 1/3 to land the role, according to Paddy Power.
This is ahead of Turner at 7/4 – who’s since signed up for a third series of BBC’s Poldark (essentially taking him out of the race) – and Hiddleston who’s trailing on 9/2.
Idris Elba – who would become the first black Bond in history – has also lost a considerable amount of ground, coming in at 10/1.
Norton was a 33/1 bet six weeks ago, and had only become slightly more likely in the past week.
However, with Turner now out of the picture, Norton has become a firm favourite, causing Ladbrokes to suspend all bets on him.
Bond producers haven’t even announced that they are officially looking for a new actor to replace Daniel Craig, who has played the secret agent in the past four films.
Despite the fact that Craig hasn’t officially handed in his license to kill, he did say that he’d rather ‘slash his own wrists’ then play Bond again, and there has been no official statement to say that he will be appearing in the next film.
Whatever happens, lets just pray that it isn’t Nigel Farage – who comes in at 500/1.
