It was a big day indeed for young Jeremiah, as he was officially adopted by his parents Jordan and Cole Dickerson.
And the day became even more special for the adorable four-year-old when he discovered he was also set to become a big brother.
The brand new family could not have looked happier as they posed together for a photograph on the courthouse steps.
A beaming Jeremiah can be seen holding up an ultrasound, with a sign in front of him reading. ‘Today I became a Dickerson. Up next… big brother.’ I’m not crying, you are…
Mum Jordan was working as a paediatric nurse at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis when she first made Jeremiah’s acquaintance in January 2017. The little boy had been receiving medical treatment while wearing a tracheostomy tube.
Jordan knew she loved him at once, and so she and husband Cole underwent background screening and foster care training with the hopes of making Jeremiah part of their lives.
By June 2017, Jeremiah was living at the Dickerson home and became a true part of the family. And the Dickerson’s joy was complete as Jeremiah was legally adopted in July 2018.
Writing about the much longed for moment on Facebook, proud mum Jordan wrote:
The day we’ve been waiting over a year for!! The court system finally caught up to what we already knew to be true…Jeremiah Evans Dickerson is officially ours!
We have dreamed, waited, and prayed for this day for such a long time. It was even better than I ever dreamed it would be.
I’m so thankful for our family, friends, and phenomenal support system throughout this entire journey. You all are irreplaceable in our book! Today we celebrate life and so much love for you, sweet boy!
In the very same post, Jordan revealed another ‘little surprise.’ She was expecting a second child, Jeremiah’s very own little sibling.
Shortly afterwards, Jordan told friends and family how the new baby was going to be a little girl, just as Jeremiah had hoped:
Well.. I guess this will do as a gender reveal! BABY DICKERSON is a girl!!
Jeremiah prayed to God in April thanking Him for his baby sister… We thought he was crazy at the time. Here we are, 4 months later finding out since then not only that I was pregnant but now that he’s also getting his baby sister he prayer for! We are all so thrilled!! [sic]
Jordan and Cole have shared many photographs documenting the precious times they have had with their new son over the last year.
Jeremiah appears to be very much enjoying life as a Dickerson, smiling brightly at various parties, family gatherings and sporting events with his adoring parents.
It looks like young Jeremiah has found himself part of a very special and caring family who will no doubt shower him with love and support.
Congratulations to this lovely family!
