Bruce Forsyth Made One Final Gag Before His Death
Sir Bruce Forsyth wasn’t shy of cracking a joke-or-two and his manager revealed the entertainer made a joke about being ill with a ‘twinkle in his eye’ just a couple of weeks ago.
Brucie, whose career spanned an amazing eight decades, passed away yesterday, aged 89, after suffering ill health for some time.
He’d most recently been admitted to hospital with a severe chest infection, but it was revealed he’d passed away surrounded by his family and his wife, Wilnelia.
His family released a short statement after his death, saying:
The many people who have sent cards and letters to Bruce wishing him well over his long illness and know that they will share in part, the great, great loss they feel.
They added there would be no further comment for the moment and asked for their privacy to be respected ‘at this most difficult time’.
But his manager, Ian Wilson, told BBC:
It is with great sadness that the Forsyth family announce that Sir Bruce passed away this afternoon, peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife Wilnelia and all his children.
A couple of weeks ago, a friend visited him and asked him what he had been doing these last 18 months.
With a twinkle in his eye, he responded ‘I’ve been very, very busy… being ill!’
Tributes have been paid in the thousands, from friends and fans, lauding the work of a man who was impossible not to love.
Former Strictly Come Dancing co-host Tess Daly worked with Brucie for a decade on the smash BBC dancing show.
She left a touching tribute on Twitter saying there were ‘no words to describe’ how heartbroken she was to be told the ‘saddest news’.
What a legend.
