Canadian teen Malyk Bonnet has become a hero after helping police save a woman who had been kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend.
According to police, it was the 17-year-old’s quick-thinking that stopped the woman from being abducted by her former partner.
Malyk approached the former couple when he witnessed the man screaming at the woman in the street. The female then asked the teenager not to leave her.
He told Canada CBC that:
The girl was saying, ‘Please help me. He don’t want to let me go. I want to go home but he don’t want to let me go.
The brave teen then stayed with the couple, pretending he lived by them to keep them out in public for as long as possible. When police became involved, they informed the youngster that the man was a dangerous offender, who had taken his 29-year-old ex-girlfriend against her will earlier in the day.
Given Malyk was just finishing his shift as a restaurant chef, it’s pretty impressive that after a long day’s work, he still found time to be a hero. Police have praised him for his actions and quick-wittedness as a huge part in ensuring the woman was safe.
