Carrie Fisher, best known for her incredible performance as Princess Leia in the Star Wars films, suffered a fatal heart attack on a plane and passed away on Tuesday.

Her fans were shocked, and the public grieved a huge loss with messages of support pouring in for the star, who had batted through a drug addiction for a long time.

Carrie was famously very open about her addiction, campaigning for better support and fighting stigma around mental health, before telling her story as a best-selling author for Wishful Drinking.

Todd Fisher, said the stress of his sister’s death had been too much for Debbie as the two were very close.

After Fisher’s death, Reynolds said on Facebook:

Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter. I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop.

RIP to the both of them and our thoughts are with their families at this tragic time.
