Developer Hello Games is releasing a series of brief trailers breaking down the different elements of their open universe exploration game No Man’s Sky. This week: Space battles.
The last video was all about highlighting exploration, giving us a glimpse at some of the 18 quintillion planets waiting for us in No Man’s Sky’s procedurally generated universe.
But I have to say, this new trailer – fittingly called ‘Fight’ – is far more interesting, if only because we’ve seen so little of what the combat in this game has to offer until now.
As you might expect from a game that encourages you to both zoom around space in your ship and explore planets on foot, there’ll be frantic boots on the ground action and some genuinely impressive looking dogfights too.
A big aspect of No Man’s Sky is survival, so I’d imagine you need to know when to fight and when to run (or fly) – check it out below.
Still, it looks like all kinds of things are gonna be out for your blood, from randomly generated alien beasts and robotic sentries, to space pirates that ambush you in deep space.
There are two more videos to come in No Man’s Sky’s ‘Guide to the Galaxy’ series, called ‘Trade’ and ‘Survive’. I’ve got a crack team of eggheads working to uncover what those videos could be about as we speak.
No Man’s Sky is set to launch on PlayStation 4 and PC on August 9 in North America, followed by August 10 in Europe, and August 12 in the UK.
