A court has been shown chilling CCTV footage of a 14-year-old boy pulling a wheelie bin around his school, supposedly containing the body of his murdered maths teacher.
Philip Chism, who is now 16, stands accused of raping and murdering his 24-year-old maths teacher Colleen Ritzer.
Chism can be seen in security footage following Ritzer down a corridor, before then putting on gloves and entering a bathroom behind her at Danver’s High School, Massachusetts.
The prosecution alleges that Chism then raped Ritzer in the bathroom, before slitting her throat with a box cutter, and then transporting the body into a wooded area inside a wheelie bin.
The body was found in a shallow grave with a note saying ‘I hate you all’, and Chism’s I.D card was also just feet away from the teacher’s corpse.
The court also heard testimony that the accused teen went to the cinema and paid to watch Gravity using the victim’s credit card.
Chism’s defense claim that he was ‘severely mentally ill’ and ‘suffering from a psychiatric disorder since the age of 10’.
Chism has pleaded not guilty to rape, aggravated murder, and robbery.
The trial resumes November 30.
