New true crime doc on murderer Brian Cohee is leaving people 'unable to sleep' after watching

The true crime documentary was dropped on YouTube in recent days

A new true crime documentary is shaking viewers to their very core.

The programme looks at the crimes of Brian Cohee Jr, who murdered a homeless man in 2021.

Then aged 19, Cohee not only murdered the helpless man - who was later named as Warren Barnes - but dismembered the 69-year-old's body.

Barnes was said to be a well-liked member of the community.

It wasn't until his mother found Barnes' head in her son's wardrobe that he was properly connected to the crime.

She called the police upon making the extremely gruesome discovery, with audio of her distressed phone call featuring in the documentary, which dropped on the EXPLORE WITH US YouTube channel on March 24.

Along with Barnes' head, the late homeless man's hands were discovered in a separate plastic bag that was stashed in his wardrobe.

As for the rest of the body, Cohee had tried to discard of the evidence by putting it in the trunk of his car and attempting to drive the vehicle into the Colorado River.

Brian Cohee Jr. was just 19 at the time of the murder.

The murder took place on February 27, with the then-teenage murderer going on to be arrested on March 1.

Fast forward to 2022, and Cohee pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to the charges.

He's known to have to suffered with mental disorders, as well as having a keen interest in 'death and mortality'.

Cohee did admit to killing Barnes with a kitchen knife, however. Apparently he'd been plotting murdering someone for six months prior and was looking to kill a homeless person or prostitute under the assumption that no one would miss them.

Despite pleading insanity, Cohee went on to be sentenced to life behind bars without parole last year, after being found guilty of first degree murder.

He was also found guilty of two counts of tampering with a dead body and of tampering with evidence.

Cohee had been plotting the murder for six months.
