One of the younger members of the infectious clan of Royalty, Prince Harry, made the mistake of turning up to a D-Day veterans celebration without wearing a tie.
But his embarrassment upon realising the perpetual fuck-up he’d made was only furthered when 91-year-old Para Squadron vet, Ivor Anderson, asked him, ‘where’s your bloody tie’, reports The Telegraph.
As soon as Harry got into the room he immediately noticed that his attire wasn’t quite up to scratch and asked the founder of the D-Day Revisited charity: ‘Are they all wearing ties in there? I should have worn a tie. Oh well, it’s too late now.’
But then the big telling off came as Ivor jokingly made the ‘bloody tie’ remark.
Harry jumped on the offensive, replying, ‘I was told not to wear a tie and then you all turn up wearing ties, I feel under-dressed.’
Manchester born Ivor later said he offered to lend the Prince a spare tie but Harry refused saying that he ‘couldn’t wear mine because he didn’t have his wings’.
Although I think it’s only fair to say that Harry seemed quite the charmer throughout the celebration – telling some of the older vets to ‘stay out of trouble’ just as he was leaving…
