A series of grim photos have emerged showing the state of Gogglebox stars Steph and Dom’s B&B – and it aint pretty…
The stomach-churning snaps reveal the disgusting state of the £200-per-night B&B with dead insects floating in grease blocked sinks, charred ovens and rancid meat in filthy fridges, reports the Daily Mail.
The photographs, taken at The Salutation in Sandwich, Kent, have emerged after the hotel’s upmarket restaurant was hit with a worrying one star hygiene rating by Dover District Council following an inspection earlier this month.
In one particularly gag-inducing picture, a leg of rotting lamb – wrapped in a leaking plastic bag – is seen dripping to the bottom of a grime covered fridge.
The shambolic kitchen serves guests in The Salutation’s luxuriously-decorated restaurant, The Dining Room, where guests fork out for main courses starting at £20 each.
An inside source said:
The hygiene standards in the kitchen are absolutely atrocious.
People have this image of the hotel being a posh, five star hotel but that is not the case when you look inside the kitchen.
The freezers are never cleaned out. The dishwashers aren’t cleaned. The fridges have got mould inside them and there are pools of water dripping from fish and meat.
Quite often food is left uncovered and unlabelled. People aren’t aware of the hygiene standards when they spend a lot of money there. It is a matter of time before someone gets ill.
According to the source, Steph and Dom are aware of the situation but only visit the B&B once or twice a month.
“They know about it but they do nothing,” said the insider, revealing standards slipped when rumours emerged that Steph and Dom plan to sell the property.
A spokesman for the couple said:
The Salutation takes matters of hygiene and cleanliness very seriously and any matters raised have been noted and addressed accordingly.
You’d really hope so…
