Donald Trump Explains How He Would Deal With Putin If He Was In Office
Donald Trump has explained how he'd handle Vladimir Putin amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
We're more than eight weeks into the Russian president's 'special military operation'. Thousands of citizens and troops have been killed, forces are gearing up for an offensive in Donbas, and nuclear rhetoric is now an everyday headline.
At the beginning of the invasion, Putin warned Western nations they'd face 'consequences they'd never seen' if they interfered, bolstered by the recent successful test of the 'Satan II' ballistic missile.

Trump earlier expressed his surprise at Putin's invasion, saying in an earlier interview: "I think he’s changed. It’s a very sad thing for the world. He’s very much changed."
During their chat, Morgan asked Trump about Putin. "Putin uses the ‘N word’. I call it the ‘N word’. He uses the ‘N word’, the nuclear word all the time," he said.
"That's a no-no, you're not supposed to do that. He uses it on a daily basis. And everybody's so afraid, so afraid, so afraid.
"And as they're afraid, he uses it more and more. That's why he's doing the kind of things he's doing right now. He's doing them because he thinks... nobody's gonna ever attack us, because they're all stupid, and they're afraid to talk."
Morgan asked Trump what he'd do if he was still in power. "Instead of [US President Joe] Biden saying, ‘Oh, he's got nuclear weapons’, he keeps saying, 'He's got nukes.'
"We have better weapons, we have the greatest submarine power in history... I would say, we have far more than you do. Far, far more powerful than you."
"And you can't use that word ever again. You cannot use the nuclear word ever again. And if you do, we're gonna have problems."
In late March, Trump also complained to Fox Business Network about Putin's use of the 'N word', as he puts it.
He said: "And we never talk about – we say, ‘Oh, he’s a nuclear power’, but we’re a greater nuclear power. We have the greatest submarines in the world, the most powerful machines ever built.
"I got along with [Putin], loving this country, and he loves his country, okay. But he’s a different person than he was, he seems to be different. It just doesn’t seem to be the same person I was dealing with."
