Earthquake Hits Britain With Tremors Felt From Blackpool To Cornwall

A 4.7 magnitude earthquake has hit Britain, with people from Cornwall to Blackpool reporting the feeling of ‘shakes’.

The quake occurred shortly after 2.30pm, with its main central point being near to Swansea.

Tremors where said to have been felt across many parts of Britain.

One person took to Twitter to write:

Was there an earthquake in Bristol?? The whole building just shook!!??

EMSC wrote:

No damage is reported and if any should remain very limited. No tsunami either.

First estimated at 4.9, the quake was later amended to 4.7, making it the strongest to hit Britain in a while.

The biggest on record was in the North Sea, near the dogger bank, back in 1931.
