El Chapo's Wife Reveals She's Not Actually Married To El Chapo

A new book has revealed that the woman El Chapo appeared to marry more than a decade ago isn't actually his wife.

The Mexican former drug lord seemingly tied the knot with former teen beauty queen Emma Coronel Aispuro in July 2007, on the day Aispuro turned 18, after splitting up with his first wife Alejandrina Salazar.

In spite of the legal issues with the situation, Chapo is said to have bribed a local priest in Sinaloa, Mexico, to conduct a religious ceremony for him and Coronel Aispuro.

In an interview with Hernandez, Coronel Aispuro recalled how she and her new 'husband' had a small celebration with their families following the ceremony, though guests have shared a different view by describing the party as 'enormous'.

Attendees reportedly involved members of the country’s army, local politicians and the governor of Sinaloa, apparently actually making it a big bash to celebrate a not-so-legitimate marriage.

Coronel Aispuro, who shares 10-year-old twin daughters with Chapo, claims to have no idea what her partner did for a living, despite his face popping up on 'wanted' posters around the country.

Chapo, whose real name is Joaquín Guzmán, is currently serving a life sentence in a Colorado prison after heading up the Sinaloa drug cartel, one of Mexico's most powerful criminal organisations from the late 20th century.

Now 32, Coronel Aispuro told Hernandez she is extremely devoted to El Chapo, though the author claims her appearances in the courtroom were a legal tactic aimed to make the kingpin look like a family man.
