Elon Musk Called Upon To Reinstate Donald Trump’s Twitter Account

The Tesla CEO has taken a 9.2 percent stake in Twitter

Elon Musk has been called upon by conservatives to reinstate Donald Trump's Twitter account following his ban from the platform.

The Telsa CEO has recently taken a big 9.2 percent stake in Twitter and has purchased roughly 73.5 million shares worth a whopping $2.9 billion (£2.2 billion), according to a recent filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Trump was permanently banned from Twitter earlier this year after his 'encouraging' tweets towards the 'people who violently stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021'.

The former president has since launched a new social media platform, 'Truth Social' and has called Twitter 'a disgrace to democracy'.

However, now that billionaire Musk has acquired the biggest stake in the company, conservatives are remarkably calling for him to add Trump back on Twitter.

Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert tweeted: "Now that @ElonMusk is Twitter's largest shareholder, it's time to lift the political censorship. Oh... and BRING BACK TRUMP!"

Monica Crowley, former assistant secretary of public affairs at the Treasury Department under Trump, wrote: "Now that @elonmusk is Twitter's largest shareholder, he should demand the end of political censorship, company-wide reform, and the reinstatement of President Trump."

Errol Webber, a Republican congressional candidate, wrote on Twitter that it is 'time to get this platform back to its former glory'.

He continued: "Step one—bring back President Trump! Step two—give everyone who has been banned a second chance. Step three—end all forms of political and other censorship."

Conservative activist Ned Ryun tweeted: "Fascinating. Would be epic if Musk forced Twitter to let Trump back on, although to be honest, Trump might not want to.

"Would dilute his value and power with Truth Social."

At the time, Twitter referred to two of Trump's tweets, in particular, that it felt clashed with its Glorification of Violence policy.

On 8 January, 2021, Trump tweeted: "The 75,000,000 great American Patriots who voted for me, AMERICA FIRST, and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, will have a GIANT VOICE long into the future.

"They will not be disrespected or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form!!!”

He added: "To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th."
