Mario Kart with 12 players is one thing. Mario Kart with 101 players, taken from across the furthest corners of gaming is quite another. I do have to point out sadly, that this isn’t a real game – just a very amusing video.
YouTube’s Hat Loving Gamer has created loads of amazing videos, showcasing imaginary levels that merge famous videogames. Sonic’s Mushroom Kingdom Zone and Mario Kart 8 on the SNES are two incredible examples.
If you’ve ever wondered what it would look like to see the likes of Link, Mario, Samus and Toad race in karts against the likes of Crash Bandicoot, Goku, and Parappa the motherfucking Rapper, look no further than the incredible video below.
The whole thing is amazing, but the highlight for me has to be the ending: 16-bit versions of each of the 101 videogame characters slowly parade past the screen, allowing you to bask in their beauty. The joy is almost unbearable.
Ewan Moore is a journalist at UNILAD Gaming who still quite hasn’t gotten out of his mid 00’s emo phase. After graduating from the University of Portsmouth in 2015 with a BA in Journalism & Media Studies (thanks for asking), he went on to do some freelance words for various places, including Kotaku, Den of Geek, and TheSixthAxis, before landing a full time gig at UNILAD in 2016.
