Female Protesters Carry Body Of Girl, 9, Beheaded By Militants Through Kabul

Protesters took to the streets of the Afghani capital Kabul on Wednesday.

Up to 20,000 people marched in protest against some recent brutal murders by militants. They want justice for seven people from a southern region of Afghanistan who they say were kidnapped and beheaded over the weekend, BuzzFeed reported.

The mostly female protesters carried the casket of the youngest victim, a 9-year-old girl called Shukria, through the streets – they also called for President Ashraf Ghani to resign.

Twitter users shared photos of Shukria’s father, one of the other people reportedly beheaded.

All the victims were from a Persian-speaking minority group of Shia Muslims called Hazaras.

The violent incident happened after two rival factions of the Taliban started fighting amongst themselves, although it’s unclear which side is responsible for the beheadings.

It’s been reported as the largest demonstration in Kabul for 15 years.
