The chilling final moments of Youtuber Pedro Ruiz III’s life have been released after his girlfriend Monalisa Perez fatally shot him.
The pair, who had a second child on the way, were filming a dangerous stunt for Pedro’s YouTube channel where he wanted her to shoot him with a .50-calibre Desert Eagle hand gun while he held a thick book to his chest.
Ruiz, 22, urged his 20-year-old pregnant girlfriend to shoot on of the most powerful handguns in the world at him while she got cold feet about the stunt saying ‘I can’t do it, babe. I’m so scared’.
Here is footage from the final video…
In the video, Ruiz says:
The point of the video is, I just really want to see if a .50-calibre bullet can go through a book.
Hoping she hits the book and not me, but the most trustworthy person that I trust in this world is my girlfriend, Monalisa, so if I’m going to die, I’m pretty much ready to go to heaven right now.
If I die, I’ll be ready for Jesus.
He probably won’t accept me into the pearly gates because of how stupid this is, but I have confidence that my girlfriend will hit the book and not me.
I’m borderline crazy. I just love the adrenaline … the near-death experiences.
I hope I capture all my audience like that. I hope with everything I do you guys can just be hooked, and watch until I fail.
Their three-year-old daughter, Aaliyah, was present when the shooting occurred, Inforum reports.
Perez, from South Dakota, was pregnant with their second child a the time of Ruiz’s death and their son was born in September.
Speaking in the video before the fatal stunt, Perez said:
Babe, if I kill you what’s gonna happen to my life. Like, no this isn’t okay.
I can’t do it, babe. I’m so scared.
To which, Ruiz responded saying ‘As long as you hit the book, you’ll be fine. Come on’, as he held the hardcover encyclopedia to his chest.
While two cameras were rolling to record the stunt, she fired the bullet at close range which went straight through the 1.5 inch book and killed Ruiz.
In an interview with authorities after the shooting, Perez said she had repeatedly refused Ruiz’s requests to carry out the book stunt for more than a month.
She told officers that Ruiz had practiced the stunt with another book and the bullet hadn’t gone through it.
The mum-of-two pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter and was sentenced earlier this year to 180 days in jail.
Perez took a plea deal in December that will allow her to serve out half her jail term in increments of 30 days per year for the next three years.
Perez is also banned for life from owning firearms and will be on probation for 10 years.
She also agreed not to seek any financial gain from the case.
