DoorDash driver divides opinion after eating customer's food who didn't tip

The TikTok delivery driver eats the purchased food if he isn't given a tip

The debate surrounding tipping culture in the US appears to be rolling on as one driver revealed what he does to customers who don't tip.

The DoorDash driver has sparked sheer public outrage after admitting in a TikTok video that he eats the takeaway food of customers who don't add a preliminary tip for his deliveries. Watch below:

The standard for tips in the States has stood at an arguably reasonable 20 percent for some years now, with anything less being considered as a cause for concern.

The decline of cash use across the globe since the Covid-19 pandemic however, has seemingly impacted tip rates.

On top of this, as services like DoorDash become commonplace in society, the question of whether tipping is still necessary, or has become rather ambiguous, has been brought back up again.

But one TikTok user - who goes by the username @sidehustleaddict on the video-sharing app - has hit out at non-tipping DoorDash customers.

Recording the video from his car, the delivery driver is seen taking a look through a recent order placed by a user of the takeaway app.

The TikTok star has sparked huge debate.

"Oh s**t, look what we got today, fam, haha!" he says. "A DoorDash non-tipper again.

"Oh man, yesterday DoorDash was doing a reminder for DoorDash non-tippers to tip or else you're gonna wait like 3 hours for your Taco Bell, at least.

"But apparently these DoorDash non-tippers didn't understand - let's see what he's got in the bag," he adds, rummaging through the already-purchased food.

The TikTok star then pulls out a hash brown, a steak breakfast chalupa and a sachet of apple sauce.

"You know, I be telling these DoorDash non-tippers, right, no tip, I eat!", he says, before taking a bite of the steak chalupa.

And the post has sparked a mixed reaction online.

Though many viewers appeared to find the TikTok amusing - with many posting streams of laughing emojis in the comment section - others believed the man in question was wrong for his behaviour.

"Happy I go And get my own food can’t be giving free money to people just driving," one hit out.

"Hope you get fired bro - idk why you’d flex not doing your job", another added.

The news comes after another TikTok user's controversial beliefs went viral online, after he admitted he's 'done' with tipping servers who don't deserve it.

"I’m not tipping anymore. I’m out, I’m done," said social media user Dustin Anderson, after proudly declared that he's part of the 18 percent of people that claimed in a recent survey that they feel awkward about tipping at all.

"It used to be you give a tip if somebody gave exceptional service. When’s the last time you’ve had exceptional service?"

Dustin went on: "It’s just expected. They bring you a bill at the end and they’re like, ‘Here, just fill this out, ‘20 percent, 25 percent’ like, no, you did your job!

"They made food and you carried it to my table. You got me a diet Coke, thank you. That’s doing your job. You don’t get 25 percent because you did your job."
