Customers slam McDonald’s for ‘insane’ prices after sharing cost of McNugget meal deal

McDonald's customers are not happy with the fast food giant's prices

Everything is pretty expensive nowadays, isn't it?

Whether it be the price of food or the electric bill every month.

Despite all them high costs, I feel like a lot of us could head to McDonald's for a reasonably priced meal.

Whether it be the iconic Big Mac or a selection of the fast food giant's burger range, you could often find a meal at McDonald's for less than $10.

Well, that certainly seems less common nowadays, with a $25 McDonald's 'deal' the best example of that.

A TikTok user, who posts videos under the username @shannon_montipaya on the popular video platform, shared a video of her at a drive-thru on 27 March.

At a Southern-Californian location, Shannon saw a sign for a 40-piece Chicken McNugget meal deal, which also included two large fries.

The price of the meal deal came in at $25.39, with taxes on top making the total amount at around $27.

In the short 15-second TikTok, the social media user slammed the price, particularly because it does not include a drink.

“Okay, so it’s $25.39 for 40-piece nuggets and two large fries,” she said.

“You couldn’t even throw in the Sprite? You couldn’t even throw in, like, a medium Sprite in there? Holy crap.”

The meal is intended to serve four people, but that hasn't stopped a lot of folks being left unimpressed by the price.

"The 40 piece of nuggets is $13 at my McDonald’s. That’s insane!" one person commented.

"Must be California. I was shocked at the price change from vegas to cali," a second added.

Shannon is not the first TikToker to complain about McDonald's prices.

TikToker Christopher Olive purchased a Smoky Double Quarter Pounder BLT burger with a large fries and Sprite.

And he was shocked to look down at his bill, only to realize he'd been charged $16.10.

In the clip, he says: "So I get there's a labour shortage, I get there's wage increases and a number of other things but... sixteen dollars?

"Sixteen dollars for a burger, a large fries and a drink. It's just crazy."

On the one hand, $16 seems like a maddening price to pay for a burger meal. But on the other, every aspect of the supply chain has been hit with skyrocketing costs.

Taking to the comments section, one person wrote: "Five Guys prices at McDonald’s?!?" To which Christopher replied: "It's crazy."

A recent study by FinanceBuzz found that McDonald’s prices have increased by a whopping 100 percent since 2014.
