For Honor looks like it could be the most insane game of 2017, pitting Samurai, Knights, and Vikings against one another in all out war, just for the hell of it.
If you’re itching to get a taste of the carnage ahead of release, Ubisoft has just announced a closed beta which will run in January – you can sign up for that here, though it’s not clear how the lucky few will be chosen.
The closed beta will run along a pre-launch event called War of the Factions, in which Ubisoft will all track all multiplayer activity across all platforms, with the greatest prizes going to the ultimate warriors.
Players will take to the battlefield in this historical mish mash of slashing, stabbing, and killing, to play as one of three factions (Samurai, Knight, or, Viking).
There are 12 unique heroes across the factions, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. For example, Ubisoft just announced the heavy hitting Shugoki and Warlord for the Samurai and Viking classes respectively, while the Knights have been given the Peacekeeper, who’ll add a tactical shade to the battles.
Each one has been given their own introductory trailer – I’ll leave them all below for you to enjoy.
Of course it’s not all twatting each other in the face with hammers and axes, oh no. Ubisoft have a cinematic campaign to go along with all the multiplayer fun, and it explains just why these three disparate fractions are suddenly at each other’s throats.
Check out the new story trailer below, which introduces us to antagonist Apollyon, and their plans to… make people fight, I guess.
For Honor comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on February 14, 2017. Happy Valentine’s day.
