Star Trek Online – the free to play online adventure – is now available to download and play on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It’s still free, just in case you were wondering.
The MMO originally released with a subscription-based model for PC back in 2010. The console version will includes all 130 story missions, as well as the first two expansions and all major updates.
It was announced back in May that developer Cryptic Studios had made ‘considerable updates’ to the game’s engine which allow for ‘an enhanced user experience for console.’
Cryptic also claims that for the console version, it’s ‘created a control scheme that allows players to navigate both the space and ground combat with ease.’
Check out the original announcement trailer below for a taste of what Star Trek Online is all about.
Of course, the game is free to download and play, so you’ve not really got anything to lose by checking it out (except your precious time, I suppose).
Still, if you happen to be a fan of Star Trek (a few ‘classic’ Trek actors lend their voices), online games, and free stuff, Star Trek Online could be a pretty decent way to spend the next few weekends.
