Get Paid To Travel And Spread Christmas Cheer As A Full Time Elf
If you’re type of the person who forges ahead with Christmas decorations and relentlessly spreads good tidings of comfort and joy throughout the festive season, with little to no encouragement, we might have the perfect job for you.
Lapland Safaris are looking for Christmas elves to work full time through the holiday season – from the end of November 2018 to the beginning of January 2019 – to spread cheer and goodwill to holiday makers in the Scandinavian countryside.
Of course, this is no ordinary holiday job, so don’t think it’ll be just a bit of light work and a lot of eggnog drinking. This is serious elf business, there’ll even be elf and safety training sessions.
You could be working in Lapland – Finland’s northernmost region, assisting the Lapland Safari guys with all things Christmas. From guiding guests to driving the elf bus, you’ll need to channel Buddy and embrace the festive spirit like you’ve never embraced it before.
The job description reads:
An Elf is at the same time an entertainer, a guide and a mythical creature of Christmas.
We expect our Elves to be energetic, outgoing, positive persons with good customer skills. Elves work in an international environment, so good oral skills in English are essential and other language skills (French/Spanish/German) are advantageous. [sic]
Luckily, you don’t need any prior experience of being an elf, as training will be given.
The advert continues:
Before the start of the actual work, Lapland Safaris organizes an Arctic Hospitality Guide training for the new Elves. [sic]
The training is part of the Arctic Hospitality Academy and is cooperated by Lapland Safaris, Lapland Hotels and local schools in tourism.
Training includes learning the required elfing and communication skills. Knowledge, skills and security are the main principles of the training. Training language is English.
Employees will also be briefed to each task in the beginning of the employment.
If this sounds as appealing to you as a warm mince pie and a glass of mulled wine, check out the job advert here.
However, if working in the land of Christmas ain’t your bag, but you still want to live the dream, the Christmas Farm Inn and Spa in Jackson, New Hampshire, have got you covered.
There, it’s Christmas all year round. They say: ‘In the Spirit of Christmas, we celebrate the simple pleasures of life every day: friends, family, fun, love, adventure, inspiration and well being’.
The hotel also boasts an authentic crackling fire, rocking chairs and a cosy Mistletoe Pub. So whatever the season, guests can curl up in front of the fire with a book and really get into the Christmas spirit.
If the amenities aren’t enough for you and you’d prefer to embrace your inner elf, the hotel is also situated 45 minutes away from Santa’s Village and is a ‘proud sponsor of the Annual Journey to the North Pole, a magical journey for adults and kids alike’.
If the hotel floats your Christmas boat, check it out here. And let’s hope it’s more Home Alone 2: Lost in New York than The Shining.
