Gina Carano, who was fired from The Mandalorian last year, has spoken out against 'cancel culture', calling it ‘extremely dangerous’.
The former MMA star was ousted by Disney following a series of posts she made in February 2021, in which she mocked the use of face masks and promoted false claims of voter fraud in the aftermath of the 2020 US Presidential Election.
Carano, 40, said in a new interview that ‘the country has run into a big problem’ and likened cancel culture to a ‘social credit score’.
When asked how she feels about cancel culture by Fox News, Carano, who is set to star in a new Western called Terror on the Prairie, told the outlet: “I feel like cancel culture is extremely dangerous.”

She continued: “I think it starts putting us on the line of kind of like a social credit score. And corporations are going to win that battle. They're going to win the social credit score.”
Carano further explained: “They're going to win the popularity battle because they have access to manipulating even the data, but they have access to manipulating the masses, whereas that robs from the individual.”
As for being ‘cancelled’ herself, Carano said she didn’t think any of her actions deserved her being ‘smeared by the Hollywood press’.
Noting that cases should be ‘looked at individually’, the star criticised companies for ‘preaching about being inclusive’ but then ‘just telling one side of the story’.

She also told Fox that, in her opinion, she’d been cancelled for ‘not toeing the narrative line’.
UNILAD has approached Carano’s representative for comment.
Last year, Lucasfilm announced the star wouldn’t be returning to The Mandalorian, in which she played Cara Dune, shortly after she shared an Instagram post that compared criticising people with right-wing political views to the Holocaust.

According to The Guardian, she wrote wrote in an Instagram post that’s no longer available: “Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbours … even by children … Because history is edited, most people today don’t realise that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbours hate them simply for being Jews.
"How is that any different from hating someone for their political views.”
In a statement released at the time, Lucasfilm said: “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future.
"Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
