A three-year-old girl froze to death at her nursery when her teacher forgot to bring her inside after playtime, according to reports.
Zakhra Rzayeva’s body was discovered on the ground behind a high pile of snow in the playground of the Moscow kindergarten, where temperatures were around -5C.
It’s believed she’d been forgotten about for two hours.
Mash news outlet reported the nursery school was known as Kindergarten number 2120.
They reported sources as saying:
Kindergarten teachers forgot a three-year-old girl was outdoors after a walk. They remembered about her only two hours later.
An investigation has now been launched into the toddler’s tragic death and it involves Russia’s Investigative Committee, which deals with serious crimes in the country.
Teachers and staff are being interrogated but the child’s parents, Rizvan Rzayev and Gulnara Shakhadat, were too distressed to speak.
Ramil Gadzhiyev, a friend of the family, said:
God forbid that any parents have to go through this.
He said teachers had denied the child was outside alone for too long and said 11am was outside playtime.
At noon they have lunch. They noticed the child lying on the ground.
That’s what I heard when I asked them – but I don’t know what really happened? Detective work will establish that.
A source at the kindergarten declined to go into details but said the child was found lying in the snow and staff had tried unsuccessfully to revive her.
Rest in peace little one.
