There aren’t many things that can blow you away, but this one certainly can, and not in the way you’re thinking.
If you’ve ever watched any medical show, there is going to be an episode about a patient sticking something somewhere it doesn’t belong.
But you never expect to see that type of thing in real life.

Well, doctors in France were left shell shocked after a man arrived at hospital on a Saturday night with a World War One bomb stuck in his rectum.
That’s pretty wild.
The event even set off a bomb scare in the hospital and led to it being partly evacuated after the 88-year-old came in for help.
A spokesperson at Hospital Sainte Musse in Toulon, told Var-Matin: "An emergency occurred from 9pm to 11.30pm on Saturday evening that required the intervention of bomb disposal personnel, the evacuation of adult and paediatric emergencies as well as the diversion of incoming emergencies.”

When bomb disposal experts arrived at the hospital, after examining the man they determined that it was unlikely the artillery shell – which was eight inches long and more than two inches wide - would explode inside the man.
They added: “They reassured us by telling us that it was a collector’s item from the First World War, used by the French military.”
“We had to manage the risk in a reactive framework. When in doubt, we took all the precautions.”

As soon as the bomb experts cleared the situation, doctors began the dangerous task of trying to remove the explosive from the man’s bottom, which is assumed to have been inserted for sexual purposes.
That’s one way to get the sparks flying.
However, they just couldn’t wrap their heads around the choice of object, with one doctor reportedly remarking: “An apple, a mango or even a can of shaving foam, we are used to finding unusual objects inserted where they shouldn’t be. But a shell? Never!”
Social media commenters were equally as stumped by the risky play.

“I’ve heard of troops bringing the rear up but this is too far,” said one.
While another commented: “He could've just used suppositories!”
Someone else found the hilarity of his choice of toy: “Guess he wanted to go with a bang.”
“He was one fart away from redefining what ‘explosive diarrhoea’ is,” joked another.

Another suggested: “I would have given him lots of Taco Bell and stayed clear.....”
However, they were unable to remove the bomb through the initial examination and medics then had to take the elderly man into surgery to safely take it out of him rectum.
According to the hospital, after cutting open his abdomen to remove the unusual antique, the man was able to receive the green light for an expected full recovery.
