Bizarre mattress design with arm slot for side sleepers is unlocking a new fear

'The world's first mattress for side sleepers' has arrived and people have a lot to say about it.

If you've listened to all the experts who've spoken out in warning about sleeping on your front, but aren't fully prepared to commit to sleeping on your back so have opted for a slumber on your side, it's more than likely you'll have run into a couple of issues, but a new mattress poses to solve one of the major problems side sleepers face.

The issue for side sleepers

More likely than not, if you sleep on your side, then you may've struggled with figuring out the best place to put your arm which is nearest the mattress.

Do you tuck it underneath you but risk it going dead, flop it above your head on the pillow and similarly risk it going dead, although with the added horror of being thrust awake in the middle of the night after you roll over and it limply thumps down next to you and you're forced to sleepily shake it awake or do you try and stick it out in front of you - not so easy when you're sharing the bed with a partner, or in my sad single case, my dog.

Thankfully, a mattress company named SONU Sleep is here to save the day, however, it's side sleeper mattress has left social media users all saying the same thing.

The solution

SONU has unveiled the 'world's first mattress designed for side sleepers' that 'finally' allows 'your arms to rest where they're meant to', which it says will result in side sleepers having 'the best sleep of [their] life'.

SONU's website continues: "The patented Comfort Channel and Support Pillow system molds to each sleeper’s desired position, greatly reducing pressures that are unavoidable with all other mattresses."

It's the Comfort Channel which is most notable here, allowing the side sleeper to 'fully immerse' their arms and shoulders 'into' the bed.

SONU resolves: "The result is a truly unique level of comfort and an unforgettably relieving sleeping experience."

Depending on whether you opt for a 'plush, hybrid [or] firm' mattress, alongside your preferred size - ranging from Twin XL to Split King - the cost of the mattress currently ranges from $1,999 to $4,498 and you can try it out for 100 nights to make sure you're happy.

And it's not taken long for people to flood to social media to weigh in, with many saying the same thing.

One X user said: "I’d be irrationally scared of a non existent person grabbing my arm."

"Nope! Spiders would get in there, I just know it," another added, while a third commented: "One word: Spiders."

"I’d just imagine crumbs or any tiny stuff getting in there or ants or spiders any insect fr, just thinking about having this gives me the heebie jeebies," a fourth wrote.

However, many others praised the design.

"Don’t laugh. I’m a side sleeper and I suffered from a frozen shoulder that took a full year to resolve," a user said, as a second applauded: "Genius!"

While another just exclaimed: "I NEED THIS."
