Here’s What The World’s Most Successful People Do Every Day
Successful people appear to do it all – they run their own businesses, eat right, exercise, get enough sleep, and look good doing it, all at the same time.
Most people I know struggle to even do one of those. So how do celebrities do it?
Apparently, it’s meditation.
Oprah Winfrey, Hugh Jackman, Clint Eastwood, Paul McCartney, and Katy Perry all do it. And so do so many more of today’s successful people.
Kate Hudson told People magazine:
Meditation has saved my sanity. Not that I was crazy, but in this world of hyperspeed, overstimulation, no escape from technology and constant emotional stress, it’s very hard to stay centered and grounded.
Russell Brand has said he has become a better person through meditation, while Hugh Jackman told Oprah: “In meditation, I can let go of everything. I’m not Hugh Jackman. I’m not a dad. I’m not a husband. I’m just dipping into that powerful source that creates everything. I take a little bath in it.”
It sounds extremely beneficial – for those who have time for it.
Most of us not making over £1 million a year will probably say we don’t have time to meditate, but if you’ve got a few spare minutes, here’s why you should:
Meditation is exercise for your brain.
Meditating for 20 minutes a day gives you a pretty solid chunk of time to practice clearing your mind. By concentrating on your breathing, meditation strengthens your mind’s ability to focus and control its thoughts. And coming out of that meditative state, your brain’s focus centers are strong and able to concentrate easier.
So basically, if you’re noticing the all too familiar feeling of your focus drifting at work, it’s easier for you to bring your mind back to it if you regularly meditate.
It’s safe to say that successful people probably wouldn’t be as successful if they weren’t exercising their brains and learning to focus easier regularly.
Meditation can make you less anxious and depressed.
A 2013 study looked at anxiety and depression in teens and what kind of impact a regular meditation practice had on them, Elite Daily reports.
The students who meditated regularly saw a decrease in both anxiety and depression both following the program, and for six months afterward. So not only does it calm your mind immediately, but it also has major long term affects as well.
Meditation makes you nicer
Meditation rewires your brain for the better, and this goes a long way if you want to be successful.
Dan Harris, an ABC news anchor, wrote an entire book on meditation called 10% Happier.
He wrote in his book:
Nobody continues to meditate because they feel like ‘my pre-frontal cortex might be changing.’ You continue to meditate because you’re less of an asshole to yourself and others. That’s a huge value added.
So basically, meditation frees your mind. And that’s a huge step forward in becoming successful – just ask the hundreds of celebrities who do it.
If you’ve got 20 minutes now, it might be a good idea to start meditating.
