I’m A Celebrity: Extra Camp presenter Joel Dommett, has been rushed to hospital after experiencing an accident on set.

During windy conditions, a wooden sign from the I’m a Celeb set reportedly struck the 32-year-old comedian and actor on the head, leaving him with head injuries.

As a result, Joel will not be appearing on tonight’s episode of Extra Camp, taking the day off work to recover. However, it’s hoped he’ll make a return tomorrow (November 22).

Writing about the unfortunate accident on Instagram – alongside a hospital pic – Joel said:

Unfortunately due to unforeseen windy circumstances blowing the set onto my head during rehearsals, I won’t be able to present Extra Camp this evening. I had seven stitches like a big brave boy and I’ll be back tomorrow.

To be honest I’m less worried about my health and more worried that the show will be better without me. Half a day off school to go home and watch neighbours! Woo! GOOD LUCK @scarlettmoffatt and @realjoeswashy

Fans of Joel and his daft sense of humour took the comment section to wish him all the best.

One person wrote:

I actually can’t help but giggle at this and then feel bad! Legend…hope you didn’t inflict too much damage on set with the head…x [sic]

While another sympathised:

Ouch! Glad you’re ok x [sic]

Chatting further about his injury in an Instagram video, a bandaged-up Joel admitted he’d accidentally got blood all over Scarlett Moffatt’s hoodie during the incident:

Thank you for all your concerns. I’m OK, got this cartoon bandage on and I was wearing Scarlett’s hoodie, which I got blood all over. Sorry Scarlett, I will wash it!

I can’t actually watch the show because I’m in Australia so let me know what’s going on. Joe and Scarlett are the best. Genuinely I fainted and I woke up and Joe was kissing my face.

Luckily, Joel seems to be in good spirits, putting fans’ minds at ease after they wondered where he was.

Joel has co-presented I’m A Celebrity: Extra Camp alongside Joe Swash and Scarlett Moffatt since November 2017.

He was a well-liked runner up in the 2016, when Scarlett was crowned Queen of the Jungle.

We wish Joel a full and speedy recovery, and a restful day off from work.
