Images Show Bleak Reality Of How Women Are Represented In Politics

It was only a hundred years ago that there were no female politicians in parliament.

Things aren’t perfect now – women still only hold under a third of government positions and women of ethnic minorities are heavily underrepresented – but it’s a small step in the right direction.

To highlight this, ELLE have photoshopped men out of various political events as part of their #MoreWomen campaign, Konbini reports, and the results speak for themselves.

The campaign aims to expose the fact that females are still seriously underrepresented in positions of power.

Lena de Casparis, ELLE’s cultural director, explained:

There are too many instances where women are represented by a single female. In business, music, art and media, women rarely outnumber men.

There is room for more of us at the top. One woman’s success makes every woman stronger.
