An iPhone user who 'lost everything' has provided a strong warning to Apple users over an Apple Store app that may be dangerous.
While we all head to the App Store to download all the essential apps such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter when we buy a new iPhone, there are some other apps we all need to be wary of.
Of course, downloading the well-known and much-loved apps are perfectly fine, but not everything on the App Store is as safe.

A fake cryptocurrency app claiming to be affiliated with Bitcoin wallet Leather was circulating and can be found on the App Store.
But you are going to want to stay well clear of this app as it is apparently robbing people of their digital assets.
Published by a developer called LetalComRu, the app uses the Leather logo.

As a result, many are believing it to be the real deal and are subsequently downloading the app.
On top of that, the makers of the app have also collected fake reviews, creating an illusion of legitimacy.

The fake reviews are extremely positive - another reason as to why someone may download the app.
People use this so-called cryptocurrency wallet to store cryptocurrency keys - something required to carry out transactions.
Leather is one of the more popular Bitcoin wallet apps, so it's unfortunate some have fallen for a fake version of it.

The fake app is essentially a wallet drainer, as it empties out the crypto currency of those who use it.
One cryptocurrency user detailed the fake app on X, formerly known as Twitter.
User @CryptoVonDoom penned: "There's a fake Leather Wallet app IN THE APPLE APP STORE.
"Literally made sure to check to see if it had reviews as well. This just cost me at least $40k."
Many flocked to the comments section of the post to share similar stories, while even offering the X user money following his loss of dollar.

Thankfully, the app has now been removed from the App Store, with the same X user adding: "The fake Leather Wallet app was taken down from
@apple’s AppStore this morning.Glad it’s down so no one else has to deal with this."
Apple has since confirmed to iMore that the fake app has indeed been removed.
The fake app likely tricked people into giving away their secret passphrase and performed transactions on their behalf.
Essentially, they moved over cryptocurrency belonging to the scam victims over to the developers who made the fake app.
