ISIS Fighter Captures His Own Death In Graphic Go Pro Footage
An ISIS fighter has apparently captured the moment of his death on his own GoPro camera.
The graphic footage shows extremists firing machine guns at government troops from behind an armoured vehicle in Hama, western Syria, reports the Daily Mail.
However, seconds later the man filming collapses after being hit by a bullet.
According to The Sun, the video is thought to have been released to praise ISIS ‘martyrs’.
The footage comes after pro-government fighters – backed by Russia – re-took the ISIS stronghold of Palmyra over the weekend, after nearly ten months of rule.
ISIS overran Palmyra – a UNESCO world heritage site – in May 2015, using its ancient theatre for public executions and destroying a number of temples and as part of its campaign against pre-Islamic monuments.
According to military sources in the area, the Syrian army is already moving on to its next targets.
One source told AFP:
The army was concentrated around Al-Qaryatain, and today [Monday] the military operations began there.
That is the next goal for the Syrian army. They also have their eyes on Sukhnah’ towards the northeast, the source told AFP.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Sukhnah’s capture would bring government forces to the gates of oil-rich Deir Ezzor province, another ISIS stronghold.
