Johnny Depp Laughs As Apartment Receptionist Testifies About Amber Heard's Claims

Depp is suing ex-wife Heard in a $50 million (£38.2 million) defamation lawsuit

Johnny Depp laughed at the deposition of his apartment receptionist during his trial with Amber Heard.

Depp, 58, is suing ex-wife Heard, 35, in a $50 million (£38.2 million) defamation lawsuit over abuse claims she made in an article in The Washington Post, despite not mentioning Depp by name in the op-ed.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor was watching the deposition of Alejandro Romero, which was believed to have been recorded in January last year.

Romero, who looked to be taking the interview from his car, worked at the Eastern Columbia Building in Los Angeles, which was where Heard made the domestic violence claims.

Heard's lawyer Elaine Bredehoft was questioning Romero after he admitted to seeing Mr Depp a couple of times.

He was asked about when Heard moved in the building, to which Romero replied: "It’s been so long I just can’t remember."

Romero went on to say that Heard was 'really friendly' and 'would always smile', while admitting that he didn't have a 'close relationship' with her.

“When is the first time that you recall anyone saying anything to you about the police being called ... because of a domestic dispute between Depp and Heard?” Mr Romero was asked.

He claims that he wasn’t working, on the day of the incident. Although he became aware that something happened on the following Monday after checking the surveillance footage.

Romero said a woman in the gym heard a disturbance from the penthouse.

The footage he looked at was dated to 8.29pm on 21 May 2016, where Depp was seen with two other men in the elevator.

Romero said Johnny appeared to be 'agitated', but reiterated that the actor was usually 'really calm' and that he didn’t witness any injuries to Ms Heard.

The moment where Depp laughed was when Romero says he was asked by Heard and her friend Rocky Pennington to check if the apartment was safe.

Before adding: “I’m tired ... I don’t want to deal with this court case ... everybody’s got problems and I don’t want to deal with this no more."

Judge Penney Azcarate said that had been a 'first' and that it was 'the most bizarre deposition'.

Heard will also take the stand in the trial, which is expected to last a total of seven weeks.
