Tim Allen has revealed that the man, the myth, the legend, Keanu Reeves has a great part in the upcoming fourth Toy Story film.
What does he mean by great? We have no idea, that’s literally all he said about Reeves’ in the film!
Allen, who plays Buzz Lightyear in the popular Pixar pictures, spoiled the surprise during his recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
He told Jimmy:
New guys are in it, Keanu Reeves has got a great part in it. Inside story, even the fun, gentle guy that he is, even he said, ‘This sounds too much like Buzz Lightyear.’ And his character does have an edge to that.
Okay, I suppose he also revealed that Keanu’s character has an edge to him, which might hint at what type of toy Mr Reeves is playing.
If I had to guess I’d predict that Bonnie, the little girl who adopted Andy’s beloved toy collection at the end of the third film, has bought a John Wick action figure.
Early on in the film some thoughtless kid, or maybe even an evil toy imported from Russia, will kill Slinky Dog and the Wick toy will go on a stuffing-soaked rampage.
Alright, maybe that’s a little too violent for a Toy Story film but it’s fun to speculate.
In fact, we have a good idea what Toy Story 4 will be about. The film will continue the adventures of Woody, Buzz and the gang who are now happily living with their new owner Bonnie.
When Bonnie introduces them to Forky, a handmade toy made from a spork and pipe cleaners, the toys set off on a road trip to help the poor spork some to terms with his new existence as a toy.
Both Tom Hanks and the aforementioned Tim Allen are returning to the series as Woody and Buzz, along with all your favourites; Joan Cusack as Jessie, Wallace Shawn as Rex, and of course Pixar’s lucky charm John Ratzenberger returns as Hamm the piggy bank.
Even better Annie Potts is set to reprise her role as Bo Peep, a character who went inexplicably missing in the third film but will be back for this one.
Unfortunately, one cast member who won’t be returning is Don Rickles who passed, who played Mr Potato Head. Mr Rickles passed away last year after suffering from kidney failure.
We do know, judging by the first teaser, that Mr Potato Head is in the film but it’s unknown whether they’ve recast the part or are using unused dialogue Rickles had already recorded for the first three films.
Both Hanks and Allen have hinted that Toy Story 4 is set to be an emotional movie, even topping the ending of the third film.
Tom Hanks admitted while on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show that he struggled to record the final scene, adding it felt like a ‘moment in history’.
Meanwhile, while appearing on The Talk, Tim Allen said: ‘I couldn’t even get through the last scene’.
Toy Story 4 is set to burst out of the toy box and into cinemas on April 21, 2019.
More of a concept than a journalist, Tom Percival was forged in the bowels of Salford University from which he emerged grasping a Masters in journalism.
Since then his rise has been described by himself as ‘meteoric’ rising to the esteemed rank of Social Editor at UNILAD as well as working at the BBC, Manchester Evening News, and ITV.
He credits his success to three core techniques, name repetition, personality mirroring, and never breaking off a handshake.
