Netflix has confirmed that The Lincoln Lawyer will be back for a second season. 

The streaming giant confirmed the news on Twitter on Tuesday (14 June), tweeting: “LA’s finest lawyer is back. The Lincoln Lawyer will return for Season 2 on Netflix.”

The Lincoln Lawyer season one only hit Netflix last month, but it didn’t take long for Twitter to start buzzing with rave reviews. 

The show has earned itself an impressive score of 79 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and has been watched for over 260 million hours worldwide.

The series stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Maggie McPherson and is based on Michael Connelly’s 2008 novel The Brass Verdict.

Netflix’s official season one synopsis read: "Sidelined after an accident, hotshot Los Angeles lawyer Mickey Haller restarts his career — and his trademark Lincoln — when he takes on a murder case."

Needless to say, fans struggled to keep their cool upon learning the show would be back, with many sharing their excitement beneath Netflix’s tweet.

One person tweeted: “Best news all day,” while another echoed: “Awesome, loved the first season.”

“When? We want it right away,” said a third, with a fourth adding: “I can’t wait.”

A fifth social media user penned: “That’s the best news I heard all day! So so so very happy for the entire #LincolnLawyer team!”


While the release date for season two has yet to be confirmed, we know that season one of the show was picked up by Netflix 18 months before it was released on the streaming platform, which means a new season will likely hit screens next year.

What else do we know? Well, season two will focus on the fourth book in Connelly’s Lincoln Lawyer series, The Fifth Witness. Season one was based on the second book, while the Matthew McConaughey-fronted 2011 film took inspiration from the first. 

We’ll also have Garcia-Rulfo back, alongside Neve Campbell as Maggie, Becki Newton as Lorna, Angus Sampson as Cisco, and Jazz Raycoleas Izzy.
