The cost of living in London is pretty ridiculous, let’s face it.
Besides the extortionate amount you have to shell out for a pint of beer (the most important concern for any young person), there’s also the small issue of actually paying rent in the UK capital.
Finding a cheap flat in the massive city is no easy feat, which is why we tip our hat to the smart people at Thrillist, who have teamed up with property website Find Properly, to produce a complete London Underground rent map.
Yes, that’s right, it’s a map of the city’s famous transport network which shows just how much you’d have to pay per month to stay at properties near each of the tube’s stops.

Basically, the figures reflect the cost of a one-bedroom property within a kilometre of each of the stations on the network.
It’s not a huge revelation to see that the prices get higher the closer you get to the centre of London, although there are a few curveballs along the way and it’s definitely a useful tool for anyone looking to move to the big city in the near future.
And it turns out you can get flats for as cheap as £324 per month at Hatton Cross on the Piccadilly Line (West).
Or for just £552 at Elm Park and £692 at Upton Park, both on the District Line (East).
£760 each month at South Kenton on the Bakerloo Line (North) ain’t too shabby either!
At the other end of the scale, you’re looking at as much as £2,080 per month at South Kensington or £2,068 at the aptly named Mansion House, both on the District Line (West).
Oh, and although Hatton Cross is cheap as chips, go a bit further up the Piccadilly Line (West) and you’e looking at £2,832 near Knightsbridge or an eye-watering £2,920 at Hyde Park Corner. Good lord!
