Louise Mensch’s Attempt To Attack Jeremy Corbyn On Twitter Backfired Spectacularly

The Labour leadership race is gathering steam and a bunch of current and ex-politicians are currently falling over themselves to smear Jeremy Corbyn and his chances of winning. Because he actually believes in something and we can’t have that in British politics, can we?

Former Conservative MP Louise Mensch is no stranger to making herself look like a fool but her own attempts to pour scorn on the Corbyn bandwagon saw her outdo her own previous poor track record.

On Friday night, Mensch released a series of supposedly anti-Semitic Twitter searches which she claimed were examples of abuse from Corbyn supporters. Except they weren’t – they were from her own Twitter history. Wow…

The author tweeted a photo of a Twitter search bar in which she’d searched for Labour leadership candidate Liz Kendall’s Twitter handle. She then pointed at the examples that appeared underneath, writing, “Twitter’s autocomplete on Liz Kendall MP. This is the sewer that is Jeremy Corbyn’s support.”

Unfortunately for the not-so bright author, people were quick to point out that they weren’t suggested searches at all, but rather Mensch’s own search history.

Mensch later admitted her error but it was too late – the mocking had started and former Deputy Prime Minster John Prescott was leading the charge.

Each of the search terms in Mensch’s history related to Judaism, Israel or Nazism in an apparent reference to the unfounded claims of anti-Semitic abuse sent by people claiming to be Corbyn supporters.

Sadly, Mensch learned nothing from her error and continued to post examples of abuse she said had come from Corbyn supporters so expect more of this nonsense for a couple more weeks yet, before the new Labour leader is announced on September 12.
