Love it or loathe it, there’s no escaping the gossip and drama surrounding the reality show Love Island.
Adding to that gossip is the fact that it’s now been revealed, there’s a secret group of islanders.
The secret group, who are never seen on camera, have the ability to affect what’s going on according to former contestants.
I know it’s reality tv and everything but still, this is a massive gamechanger and surely not fair to those of you who watch it?
Last year’s winner, (if you watched it then too), Cara de la Hoyde, revealed that the un-seen group can manipulate the Villa.
Referred to as chaperones, the secret individuals are always on call for the TV stars, who can get very lonely in the villa.
Cara who scooped the £50,000 prize with ex-boyfriend Nathan Massey, said that the ‘chaperones’ always speak to the couples post-sex to make sure everyone is happy and content with the situation.
Speaking to Glamour magazine Cara said:
We have chaperones who keep an eye on us all day and then all night, too. They are there all the time for emotional support – they aren’t on camera.
I was lucky I had a good ride and I met someone I really loved, but there were days when things were hard and you miss everyone.
Last year’s winner, who is currently pregnant, continued:
You can go sit out the front of the villa and chat to them. They would really look after you, like they would remind you to take your pill every day too.
Other islanders have previously revealed that dinner is not filmed as producers are busy charging the microphone batteries etc but Cara also said that the chaperones are on hand to make sure there are no sneaky conversations.
Dinner was the best because it was total downtime – you sit with the chaperones and it’s not filmed and you have no microphones.
You are not allowed to have sneaky conversations – that’s why the chaperones are there to watch you, but if someone was to have a dramatic argument then you can’t go back and recreate it.
The producers know what’s going on all the time.
The next morning after you have sex, they take you to the side and say, ‘we are aware of what happened last night’.
They are tactful and they want to check that you are happy that it happened and if you used protection – it’s not about being nosey, it’s safety.
They are very conscious about looking after you.

Well there you go then – I wonder if there’s any more secrets to come out?
I dare say it wouldn’t surprise me!
