A man has been held at gunpoint outside the Houses of Parliament in what is being described as an ‘ongoing incident’ in the capital.
Pictures of the scene outside the House of Commons have emerged on Twitter, which show a man being pinned to the ground by armed police officers.
Carriage Gates at Parliament have been closed. We heard shouting and saw a policeman with his gun raised outside. Haven't heard any shots

The suspect has been arrested by officers.
Joe Murphy, Political Editor for Evening Standard, reported there were shouts of ‘knife, knife, knife’ at the scene and that the police used tasers on the suspect.
Metropolitan Police have since released an update on the incident, confirming that a man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife.
