Man Spends $15,000 To Look Like His Favourite Dog
Look, we all love dogs. At this point, if you don't, grow up.
However, one man has taken that love to new, and slightly strange, extremes when he spent 2 million yen ($15,000/£12,000) to look like a border collie.
Yep. The man, identified as Toko, enlisted a Japanese company to make the costume which took 40 days to complete.
The interesting thing is that Toko really does look like a collie. Like, we're honestly not sure if we could tell the difference from a photo.
And, it seems, that's exactly what the man/collie was going for. He told Mynavi: "I made it a collie because it looks real when I put it on.
"My favourite is quadrupedal animals, especially cute ones. Among them, I thought that a big animal close to me would be good, considering that it would be a realistic model, so I decided to make it a dog.
"I met such a condition and made collie, my favourite breed of dog."
A representative from Zeppet, who made the costume, said: "The point is that the skeleton of a dog can be reproduced on the skeleton of a human. Since the structure of the skeleton is very different, we spent a lot of time studying how to make it look like a dog."
And it seems a lot of research goes into that process, even down to the fur colour: "In addition, we collect photographs taken from various angles so that the beautiful coat of the collie can be reproduced and devised so that the coat will flow naturally."
To be fair, it's money well spent if he wants to look like a real collie, or one of those giant stuffed animals you can never win at the fairground because all the games are rigged.
Still, Toko isn't hurting anyone and he seems to be having a great time embracing his inner dog, taking to YouTube to introduce his four-legged self.
In the video, Toko crawls on screen and shows a series of cue cards to viewers, explaining his new form.
The 'Rough Collie's self-introduction' is captioned: "Nice to meet you! Have you ever wanted to be an animal? I have! I made my dream come true like this!"
People were really supportive, with one user saying: "Congratulations! You even seem very friendly like a real dog. I'm impressed!"
While another added: "Awesome!!!!! It's looking 100 percent like a rough collie..."
And, honestly, we're happy for Toko, and if he's ever looking for a walking companion we know a couple of collies who'd be thrilled.
