A US man has been arrested after he swung an excavator towards two police officers in an effort to stop them from arresting his son.
Wayne Tallman, 52, climbed into the heavy machinery and attempted to hit Vermont officers Gabe Schrauf and Skylar Velasquez with the large metal shovel.
Dashcam footage of the incident saw the two police officers arrest Tallman's son Brandon Tallman, 24, tackling him to the ground after he resisted arrest.

Brandon's mother Amy Tallman, 48, then joined in the scuffle between him and the state troopers, eventually resulting in her own arrest.
During the struggle, a large red excavator can be seen driving slowly towards the police officers, eventually swinging at the pair when it gets close enough.

While one trooper held both Amy and her son Brandon down on the ground, the other pulled his gun on Wayne.
Mr Tallman can be seen arguing with the officer from the driver's seat before turning the shovel of the excavator towards the roof of the police car.
As stated by Vermont State Police, thankfully, no one was hurt as a result of the incident.
A statement from Vermont State Police confirms that officers had been responding to reports of a physical altercation in the town of Woodbury when they arrived on the scene.

It read: "Troopers responded to the residence and met with the victims. An altercation broke out between the homeowners and [Brandon] Tallman.
"Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Brandon Tallman for Aggravated Assault, Burglary, Unlawful Mischief and Resisting Arrest."
Brandon was held at Northwest State Correction Facility on $25,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at Washington County Superior Court Criminal Division on 15 June.

Meanwhile, a separate statement from Vermont State Police on Brandon's parents Wayne and Amy reads: "When Troopers arrived on scene to take the suspect into custody, Wayne and Amy Tallman began to impede Troopers.
"Wayne proceeded to operate an excavator and recklessly manoeuvred the bucket near the Troopers and their cruisers in an attempt to prevent them from arresting the suspect.
"Troopers were forced to retreat with the suspect before addressing the threat that Wayne had caused."

The statement adds that Wayne Tallman was arrested for Aggravated Assault on Protected Official, Resisting Arrest, Impeding, and Reckless Endangerment, but has since been released with a citation to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court - Criminal Division on 15 June.
Amy Tallman was also issued a citation for Impeding an Officer and is scheduled to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court – Criminal Division 20 August.
