Britain’s favourite Princess-to-be Meghan Markle already has a pretty tidy wad of cash to her name, even without a tiara.

Now the actress is becoming part of the royal family, people are beginning to ask questions about her potential inheritance money once she lands the ultra-posh title of Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Sussex.

The former Suits actress has a worth reported to be around $5 million (£3.7m), according to Celebrity Net Worth. Plenty enough to keep a palace in chandeliers and corgis.

Not that it’s a who’s-the-fanciest-royal competition or anything, but this is reportedly half the wealth of the equally stylish Duchess of Cambridge, who is apparently worth $10m (£7.4m).

Of course, both these fortunes look piddly compared to the wealth of Meghan’s fiancee Prince Harry who is said to be worth an enormous $40m (£29.6m). So do these actually guys need to agree to the ‘for richer, for poorer’ part or…?

As well as his annual allowance, loaded Harry inherited $13.3m (£10m) from his late mum Princess Diana on his 30th birthday, as well as an inheritance from the Queen Mother after her death in 2002. Harry also received a decent salary thought to be between $50,000 (£36,970) and $53,000 (£39,200) while serving as a British Army Air Corps pilot.

While playing high powered lawyer Rachel Zane, 36-year-old Meghan apparently raked in around $50,000 (£37,000) per episode, with a dizzying annual salary of $450,000 (£333,000).

This reportedly includes money from various acting and sponsorship projects. Just imagine her pay day spending spree.

In 2010, she was also paid $187,000 (£138,000) for her part in romantic drama Remember Me as well as $171,429 (£127,000) for political comedy The Candidate.

Meghan recently caused a stir by deleting her social media accounts in accordance with royal family protocol. Any social media announcements made by Markle will now go through the official social media accounts of the royal family.

The palace has said:

Ms Markle is grateful to everyone who has followed her social media accounts over the years.

However, as she has not used them for some time, she has taken the decision to close them.

The closure of Meghan’s accounts was announced after the popular couple made their first public visit in London.

Before then, the social media princess had at least 1.9 million Instagram followers and 350,000 Twitter followers. Her official Facebook page had also amassed an impressive 800,000 likes.

However, I imagine we will still be hearing from opinionated Meghan who is already beloved by her royal subjects.

While in Brixton, South London, Harry and Meghan were greeted by crowds of delighted well-wishers at community radio station Reprezent which teaches young people media broadcasting skills.

Reprezent DJ Jeremiah Asiamah warmly described Meghan and Harry as a ‘power couple’ during their visit adding ‘they became family in the space of five minutes’.

Speaking to the BBC, Asiamah said:

Meghan was beautiful, such an amazing character, if there’s any way you could describe a power couple in this modern day and age, it’s definitely them.

The royal wedding will take place on May 19. With the couple’s charismatic and likeable personalities striking a genuine chord with the public, I expect republicans and royalists alike will be sitting down to toast the happy couple with scones and tea.
