Woman Accused Of Killing Boyfriend's Lover Arrested In Costa Rica After 43 Days On The Run

Kaitlin Armstrong is accused of killing professional cyclist Moriah 'Mo' Wilson at a house in Austin, Texas

Kaitlin Armstrong, the murder suspect who was on run for the suspected death of professional cyclist Moriah Wilson, used a fake passport to avoid arrest.

Cops in Austin, Texas, issued a warrant for the arrest of Armstrong, 34, who is now facing a murder charge after 25-year-old Wilson was found dead on 11 May.

Wilson, who was discovered by her friend, had multiple gunshot wounds, and despite her friend and police performing CPR on her, she was pronounced dead a short time later.

It had previously been reported that Armstrong may have carried out the murder after discovering her cyclist boyfriend Colin Strickland had been in a romantic relationship with Wilson while they were still together.

Strickland had told police that he had briefly dated Wilson during a break in his relationship with Armstrong in January this year.

At the time, investigators said that a search of Wilson’s phone indicated that she thought she was ‘still in a romantic relationship with Strickland even though he was currently dating Armstrong’.

Wilson’s family deny that she was in a relationship with anyone at the time of her death.

On 29 June, Armstrong was eventually found and arrested at a hostel on Santa Teresa Beach in Costa Rica's Provincia de Puntarenas.

According to the arrest warrant, the yoga teacher used 'a fraudulent passport' and had 'boarded United Airlines Flight 1222 from Newark International Airport at 5:09 p.m. EST on May 18 and arrived in San Jose, Costa Rica, at 8:27 p.m. EST.

The 34-year-old will be deported and returned to the U.S'.

“The Marshals Service elevated the Kaitlin Armstrong investigation to major case status early in this investigation, which likely played a key role in her capture after a 43-day run,” said U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Texas Susan Pamerleau.

“This is an example of combining the resources of local, state, federal and international authorities to apprehend a violent fugitive, bring an end to that run and hopefully a sense of closure to the victim’s family.”

The arrest warrant also read: "The U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force located Armstrong’s black Jeep Grand Cherokee last week and learned that Armstrong sold the vehicle May 13 to a CarMax dealership in south Austin for $12,200 dollars.

"Armstrong was provided a check from the dealership a day after being questioned by Austin authorities.

"She departed the Austin airport on May 14.

"Investigators learned that Armstrong was dropped off at the Newark Liberty International Airport on May 18, a day after Austin police issued a homicide warrant for her arrest.

"She is suspected of the May 11 murder of Anna Moriah Wilson."
