New Drone Combat TV Show Is Wasted On Children

You wait for one bus, and then two come along at once.

Fresh from announcing that Robot Wars would make a return to our screens at some stage in 2016, a drone combat show has been unveiled on CBBC.

Airmageddon is a kids show which, according to The Verge, will pit children aged nine to 14 against each other.

There seems to be a variety of challenges, but the use of lasers and blasts of fire in the direct combat section definitely captures the imagination.

But, as pointed out by Stuart Heritage in The Guardian, the show is somewhat wasted on people so young.

He writes:

On paper, Airmageddon is the best television programme ever made.

In reality, it’s some kids flying a drone through a hula hoop over and over again. Sometimes they make the drone go under a rail, but that’s pretty much it.

It certainly is an incredible concept, and I’m sure kids will love it. But what drone couldn’t be improved by carrying a flamethrower?

Please BBC, don’t let the kids have all the fun with this one!
