The Game Awards 2016 played host to a whole bunch of new trailers, with an extended look at The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild being one of the key reveals.
Hopefully the new footage can allay the fears of those who were concerned what we saw during E3 was a bit barren – the new trailer shows off NPCs, towns, and even a tiny lil dog. Bless.
Check out the first trailer below, and join the debate that currently rages around whether or not the female character we see is Zelda (it probably is).
In addition to the above trailer, we also got a decent four minute peek at some gameplay in a brand new area, courtesy of the Nintendo Treehouse.
In this, we see Link exploring a wooded region for treasure, taking on some surprisingly strong Lizard enemies with electricity based attacks – this game looks way harder than the last few Zelda adventures, and that’s awesome.
There’s a great sense of variety to the gameplay as we learn that Link can tackle his foes head on, or opt for a stealthier approach and thin the herd – given that Link’s combat skills have been pretty limited in the past, it’s cool to see all the weapons we’ll be able to play around with.
Check it out just below.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild comes to Nintendo Switch and Wii U sometime in 2017. Unless it gets delayed. Again.
