In the latest instalment of the dick swinging contest between North Korea and the United States, the secretive state has threatened to sink a U.S. nuclear submarine deployed in South Korean waters.
The guided missile submarine the USS Michigan has been joined by the USS Carl Vinson aircraft and it’s safe to say Kim Jong-un and co aren’t too pleased.
On the North’s propaganda website Urminzokkiri, it stated:
The moment the USS Michigan tries to budge even a little, it will be doomed to face the miserable fate of becoming an underwater ghost without being able to come to the surface.
The urgent fielding of the nuclear submarine in the waters off the Korean Peninsula, timed to coincide with the deployment of the super aircraft carrier strike group, is intended to further intensify military threats toward our republic.
According to The Independent, the website added that any U.S. submarine would be ‘turned into a mass of scrap metal’.
The official newspaper of North Korea’s ruling party, the Rodong Sinmum, also commented, saying that it was a ‘reckless action of the war maniacs aimed at an extremely dangerous nuclear war’.
These chilling threats came less than 48 hours after North Korea failed with their latest ballistic missile launch.
According to U.S. officials, the ballistic missile disintegrated minutes after it launched.
President Donald Trump, forever being the professional, didn’t fancy divulging into how he was going to solve a problem like North Korea, telling reporters: “You’ll soon find out”.
Donald, it’s okay mate if you don’t know- we won’t hold it against you.
All jokes aside, this escalating tension between two increasingly unstable nations is extremely concerning.
We can only hope the United Nations step up its efforts to prevent all out war.
