Breeana North had met the man she wanted to spend her life with, but didn’t want to say ‘I do’ while feeling uncomfortable and self conscious about her weight.
24-year-old Breeana from New South Wales, Australia, tipped the scales at 122kg (19st 2lbs) when her now-husband, Tye, popped the question. 29-year-old Tye also faced problems of obesity, weighing 250kg (39st 5lbs).
The couple, who met online back in 2012, would binge together on fried food and sugary snacks; even drinking through four litres worth of soft drinks between them.
However, with visions of her perfect wedding dress filling her daydreams, Breeana knew she just wouldn’t feel right beginning married life in a size 24 gown. Her lifestyle needed to change, and she would need plenty of determination to succeed.
Breeana, who was badly bullied over her weight as a teenager, said:
When Tye proposed to me, I was over the moon but a wave of sadness washed over me at the same time. I knew I wanted to marry him, but not the way we were.
We were both so obese and had terrible eating habits.
The lovebirds switched to a rigid ketogenic ‘keto’ diet, which cuts carbs while putting a focus on high fat, high protein foods.
According to Breeana:
I told Tye that I’d only marry him if we made a solid effort to get healthy, and he agreed.
I’d heard of the keto diet before but was really skeptical. I thought it was just another fad diet.
But I saw people having amazing results and decided to give it a go. I’m so glad I tried it because it’s worked so much better than any other diet out there.
We’re so used to trying to avoid fat, and the thought of eating a high-fat diet was baffling. But it’s made me feel better than I ever have in my entire life.
Just a few days after going keto, I had so much more energy. I was sleeping better, my skin cleared up and I was just happier. I knew at that point I would never look back.
We threw out everything bad we had in the fridge and started again with keto-friendly foods.
Tye and I also got a personal trainer and began going to the gym five days a week.
The weight just began melting off. It was incredible.
Incredibly, Breeana and Tye stuck to their new routine, supporting each other every step of the way, and the results were truly remarkable.
Breeana shed 51kg (8st), dropping seven dress sizes in time for her nuptials. Now a slender 71kg (11st 2lbs), Breena felt like a true princess as she tied the knot in a gorgeous size six wedding gown.
Tye managed to lose an amazing 101kg (15st 2lbs). On the day of his wedding he weighed 149kg (23st 6lbs) and looked very happy indeed in his stylish tux.
Well done guys, and many happy returns!
